What are numeracy skills classes?
Numeracy skills classes are small, supportive learning sessions for children, young people, and adults. Each class focuses on building confidence, understanding, and practical maths skills through clear, accessible teaching in a relaxed environment.
Who are the classes for?
These classes are for learners aged 9 to 18+ and are inclusive of those with special educational needs (SEN) or diverse learning profiles who may find maths and numeracy challenging.
What happens in a class?
Each session focuses on shared and individual goals—such as building number confidence, improving problem-solving, or strengthening everyday maths skills. Lessons use visual, digital, and hands-on activities to make numeracy meaningful, engaging, and easier to understand.
How is progress monitored?
Learners’ progress is monitored through ongoing observation and simple, supportive check-ins to ensure steady, personalised development and increasing confidence with numbers.
Who leads the classes?
Classes are led by qualified teachers experienced in SEN and inclusive education, supported by trained learning assistants. Teaching is adapted to meet a wide range of learning needs and styles.
How do you keep learners safe?
All staff are Enhanced DBS-checked and receive regular safeguarding, SEN, and inclusive practice training. The Numeracy Room provides a calm, positive, and welcoming environment for all learners.
